| Kailash Mansarovar Yatra
from May 26
This year, the Kailash
Mansarovar Yatra will be held between May 26 to September 26, 2011.
Organised by MEA along
with other coordinating agencies such as Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam Limited
(KMVN), the Yatra takes participants to holy sites of Mount Kailash and
Mansarovar lake in Tibet through the traditional route followed by saints
and pilgrims since ancient times.
From this year, a change
in the route of the Yatra has been undertaken through Narayan Ashram which
shall make the Yatra less arduous and more safe for the Yatris.
Minister of External Affairs
S M Krishna has given Rs 25 lakh from ministry's budget which will be used
to purchase 2 air-conditioned coaches for transporting Yatris from Delhi
to Tawaghat and back as well as for improving accommodation facilities
for Yatris on the new route at Sirkha and Pangu.
