Ashok Chopra - A Musical Nite
Recently, the Chopra family revealed
their caring side.
Priyanka Chopra was not present but
her parents Dr Ashok and Madhu Chopra
spearheaded a fundraiser — a musical
evening for the Lions Club Of SOL at ISKCON (International Society for
Krishna Consciousness) auditorium, Juhu — to lend support for a senior
citizens' home to be set up in Karjat.
This evening was dedicated to Laxmikant-Pyarelal
and Dr Ashok Chopra along
with his brother Pawan Chopra and Raju
Manwani — Vice District Governor of
Lions Club, sang old songs of Mukesh
and Kishore Kumar.
"The evening was started with a brief
introduction of Laxmikant-Pyarelal
by Priyanka's mom Dr. Madhu Chopra.
Pyarelal was so pleased that he has
decided to host the same evening once
again for the same cause," says an eye-witness
Dr Chopra adds, "We, as arrangers of
the show, were successful.
The comments from the audience; especially
from the Laxmikant- Pyarelal
family were extremely encouraging."
Manwani adds, "Our dream is to set up
the old age home with the help of the
people."
Laxmikant's daughter Rajeshwari, who
also came up on the stage and sang
a few words, says nostalgically, "I
could hardly sing on stage, I was in tears.
It was a pure musical programme with
no dance. Using dad's song for a noble
cause is special."

Spotted at the event were Johnny Lever
who used his wisecracks and
paid tribute to LP. Also included were
Daboo and Anu Malik and Anu Kapoor
who too sung a few lines.
