Geeta Basra (born on
13 March 1984) is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood films. So
far she has starred in two films.
Basra was born to Punjabi Indian parents in Portsmouth on the south coast of England, but now resides in Mumbai. She has studied acting at Kishore Namit Kapoor’s Acting School. She was first seen in Dil Diya Hai with Emraan Hashmi in 2006. Her second release in 2007 was also opposite Emraan Hashmi. She played Roma, a working woman who gets caught up in an extramarital affair. She is also seen in the music video for the Sukshinder Shinda and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan song "Ghum Sum Ghum Sum", playing the love interest of the male protagonist. The song is from Shinda's upcoming album "Collaborations 2". There were News earlier that Harbhajan Singh and Geeta were dating each. They were spotted going to watch Amitabh Bachchan starrer Paa (film).[1] Geeta also has a brother aged 15, Rahul Basra who lives in Portsmouth, England You can't miss the glee from Geeta Basra's face. A NRI from UK, she is now mighty thrilled for getting an opportunity to be dancing for an Independence Day special event in her own motherland. "This is special and so close to my heart. I have been in India for a couple of years or so and finally I can dance for an event that celebrates India's Independence. It can't get better than this", says the young girl. "This is a recorded event which would be telecast on 15th August. The last few days have gone into rehearsing for the show and believe me there was a lot of hard work involved. Since this showcases India in all its glory, the organizers (Moranis) have made it concept based", she reveals. And what exactly is that? "We are celebrating all the major festivals of India and hence you would get the essence of Diwali , Id, Vaisakhi, Ganpati et al. There is a right dose of entertainment interspersed with patriotism in the song and dance event." For the records, others who have performed for the show are Govinda, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Dia Mirza. Geeta is paired with Riteish for most of the songs. How was the experience shaking a leg or two at the stage? In spite of her boasting of a stunning figure, her films so far [Dil Diya Hai, The Train] haven't quite allowed her to go 'bindaas' on the dance floor. "Pity me for that", says Geeta with mock sadness, "But I am sure that would be compensated with my performance on stage. I dance to some of the most entertaining tracks like 'Bole Chooriyan' [K3G], 'Salaam E Ishq' [Salaam E Ishq], 'Dupatta' [Partner] and 'Guitar' [Apna Sapna Money Money]. It can't get more rocking than this, isn't it?" And how about some festive/patriotic essence? "For that we have songs like 'Holi Ke Din' [Sholay], 'Rang De Basanti' and many more. Swaroop, the choreographer of the show, has made sure that each of the performances stand out. He is truly one of the most gifted choreographers I have come across", she signs off. |
