Priyanka Chopra: “i’m
a very confused person!”
is it true that you have
been offered the role of Wondergirl in a Hollywood film?
“Till something happens,
i don’t like to talk about it. i am not confirming the news or denying
it right now.”
People think you are quite
worldly wise since you’ve done so well career wise?
“Rubbish. i am hardly worldly
wise. As for the career graph, it’s just that destiny is on my side so
far.”
Do you think every woman
needs a man to protect her?
“It’s not about a man. It
could be the mother too. She just needs someone. I’m a very confused person.
I think most women are like that. But the hole world thinks I am worldly
wise, so I have kept the facde going.”
Would you consider yourself
an intense performer?
“I just consider myself
a performer. I would love to consider myself an intense performer, but
I think that is for the audience and critics to say.”
Would you consider yourself
an intense performer?
“I just consider myself
a performer. I would love to consider myself an intense performer, but
I think that is for the audience and critics to say.”
What about all those hits
you’ve already delivered?
“I think I will never be
sure about acting. The day I am sure, I will retire. I have a long way
to go now. I haven’t even completed three years since I came year.”
Do you think an actor needs
to go through pain to enact it on screen?
“No, I don’t think you have
to go through pain to enact it out on screen. You can observe other people
and try and act it out. That’s why it is called acting.”
Priyanka - Govinda film
retitled
Saturday, September 02,
2006
Once upon a time Govinda
was a reigning star and Priyanka Chopra was a Miss World looking for a
step in the right direction to movies.
This was when 'Ek Hasina
Ek Deewana' happened. To be directed by K C Bokadia, it wasn't the grandest
of setups for Priyanka but guess she may have found the unusual pairing
to be exciting enough. With a supporting cast comprising of Shakti Kapoor,
Prem Chopra, Kader Khan, Johny Lever and Sharat Saxena, she knew that she
was headed for a pucca masala fare and hence would have expected a safe
run.
But as luck would have had
it, the film got made but never saw the light of the day. As Bokadia prepares
to release another of his stuck projects 'The Challenge' [starring Sunny
Deol in the lead], even 'Ek Hasina Ek Deewana' has gone for a title revamp
and is now named 'Bekasoor'.
Keeping the fate of recently
released 'Sandwich' in mind, even if the producers decide to release the
stuck 'Bekasoor', they would have to ensure that it is publicized in a
good manner and presented as a fresh project altogether
Don't disappoint, show
promoters warned
Thursday August 24, 2006
Fiji's Consumer Council
has issued a warning to promoters of Bollywood events to avoid disappointing
patrons as they have in the past.
FCC chief executive Premila
Kumar said promoters of these events have a bad track record. She said
the council hoped the upcoming Priyanka Chopra show would be better organised
in terms of crowd control, security issues, addressing long queues and
seating arrangements. "The consumers are paying exorbitant ticket prices
for these shows and at such rate they expect to get the best entertainment
without mishaps and disappointments," added Kumar. The show will be held
next month.
London, Aug 09: Filmstars
Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra will be part of a battery of Bollywood
actors who will perform in a star-studded show here later this month.
The August 27-28 `Just Chill`
show will also feature John Abraham, Zayed Khan, Katrina Kaif and Mallika
Sherawat and will be held in Bolton and Glasgow.
Britishers will also be treated
with a musical extravaganza by music director-turned singer Himesh Reshammiya
in October.
Reshammiya`s concert `Aap
Ka Suroor` has already kicked off and is playing to packed houses in the
United States, the organisers said in a release
07/08/2006. After coming
back from Malaysia, Priyanka Chopra is busy shooting 24 hours simultaneously
for her films - Jain's 'Aap Ki Khatir' and Nikhil Advani's 'Salaam E Ishq'.
Jain couldn't afford a delay so he requested Priyanka to do a song sequence
with Akshaye Khanna. She agreed to work another shift. After shooting 1
to 7pm for AKK she will shoot for SEI from 8pm onwards. "My father keeps
telling me that I work too hard. But then any parent would be worried about
their child. But I keep reasoning with him that I am young and this is
the time when I can work hard," reveals Priyanka.

Priyanka does her bit for the underprivileged!
It's really heartwarming
to see actors go out of their way to do their bit for the society. Actor
Priyanka Chopra recently organized a special screening of KRRISH for the
underprivileged children of St Catherine's Home at a suburban multiplex.
"Even if I don't get married
I can spend the rest of my life with these underprivileged kids", she was
quoted by a news agency. She is very fond of kids and also interacted with
the children of sex-workers at a BMC school.
She recently celebrated a
quite birthday with her family and close friends. Her forthcoming films
include AAP KI KHATIR, DON, SALAAM-E-ISHQ and GOD TUSSI GREAT HO. Great
going Priyanka!
Priyanka Chopra has done exceptionally well during the past year. Just
when she is poised to win more accolades, she is undergoing a horrid trauma
due to her father’s serious illness. He is battling cancer in a Mumbai
hospital.
Mumbai: Aug 12, 2005 --Cancelling all her shooting schedules, actor
Priyanka Chopra has concentrated on caring for her father who is in the
intensive care unit of a Mumbai hospital. He is battling with cancer. With
Independence Day looming in front of her, Priyanka has publicly said that
she and her family – especially her brave and strong mother – have been
brought together because of the misfortune. As Mr. Chopra battles to overcome
cancer, Priyanka and her family battle their fear and trauma. “I have taken
leave from all my shooting assignments because I cannot concentrate on
work,” she says, “I am scheduled to go to the United States for some live
shows mid September and I am planning to take my father with me for specialised
medical treatment,” she says soberly, “I found that courage surfaced when
I was down and out. I have been able to get a handle on the trauma and
am working to help my father recover as fast as he can.”
Christmas Eve With A Social
Cause! ~ 26 Dec 2005
Christmas night glittered
with stars in Delhi. It became special when some Bollywood personalities
reached Delhi to rock at the charity concert on Saturday.
Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka
Chopra, Esha Deol and Zayed Khan performed at the concert. The venue was
Indira Gandhi Stadium which was packed with school children.
Dance, Music and jokes…Shah
Rukh Khan did everything just to rock his hometown Delhi. While other actors
like Rani Mukherjee and Priyanka Chopra accompanied him to generate charity.
Well, if we look back then
one can notice that this is not the first time. Bollywood needs no occasion
to offer their service for a social cause. And here they proved again!

Australian politician in Love Story 2050
October 10, 2006. Australian Politician Mike Rann, who is the Premier
of South Australia, is so fascinated with Bollywood films that he has agreed
to play a cameo in a Priyanka Chopra starrer. Rann will appear in a song
and dance sequence filmed on Priyanka Chopra in Love Story 2050. The song
is being shot in Adelaide. Rann also met many filmmakers in Mumbai recently,
which includes Yash Chopra, to invite them to shoot in Australia. And well,
seems like there are about five more films that are going to be shot there
in the coming year. After the European countries, now it looks like the
Continent in the Southern Hemisphere is becoming the hot spot for shooting
Bollywood films.
Congrats on Krrish. Did you
expect it would be such a big hit?
“I never say it, but I did
expect Krrish would be a success. I didn’t think it would be such a phenomenon
though. It has surpassed all my expectations.”
Did Rakesh Roshan mention
a sequel to Krrish while working on the film?
“Everybody on the sets kept
asking Rakesh Roshan about yet another sequel after Krrish. I told him
he has to make a sequel because Krrish has become so successful now. Irrespective
of whether I am there in the film or not, I would definitely like to see
what happens to the character Krrish.”
Hooray for Bollywood!
Thursday, 12 October 2006.
The Indian film industry (often referred to as Bollywood) made a fleeting
visit to Kangaroo Island on Sunday and Monday as the stars of Love Story
2050 braved the elements to film in several exotic locations.
Harmen Baweja, pictured,
was perched on a rock at windy Pennington Bay on Sunday as co-star and
former Miss World Priyanka Chopra, got some shelter from the elements.
The crew shot at Pennington Bay, Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch before
heading back to Adelaide to shoot more for the $10 million film. While
Chopra is a veteran of the giant Indian film industry, this is Baweja's
debut and he's expected to become the "next big thing" in India. The director
chose KI for its beautiful locations and pristine beaches
Priyanka Chopra is essaying the stunning Zeenat
Aman's character [Roma] in Farhan Akhtar's eagerly anticipated DON, releasing
on Diwali/Eid this year. In an interview to the BBC Asian Network to be
aired soon, when she was asked about comparisons with Zeenat Aman, she
exclusively divulged, "I am not trying to step in to Zeenat ji's shoes.
She was in a league of her own. My character is very different from the
one in the original. I'm playing a killer and have received special training
in Martial Arts by a Shaolin teacher to prepare for the role! DON will
show me in a completely new avatar!"
For long, there has been talk that contrary to perception,
the new DON is replete with twists, turns and unforeseen surprises and
thrills, and looks like this is only one of them!. U T V is releasing DON
internationally on October 20
Currently in Malaysia, wrapping
up a schedule of Farhan Akhtar’s Don, Priyanka Chopra’s thoughts are back
home.
Not only is she troubled
by reports of her former business manager inundating her family with unwanted
attention, the actress is also anxious for her father, who has been seriously
unwell for a year now.
Shooting in July
“My dad goes in for another
surgery in July. My mom will accompany him. But I cannot go, because Salman
Khan has allotted fresh dates for Nikhil Advani’s Salam-e-Ishq and since
we’re shooting the film in July, I won’t be able to be with my dad,” Priyanka
sighs, and then moves on to her favourite topic. “I’m coming back to Mumbai
to start off Harman’s film — Love Story 2050, and to resume work on Salam-e-Ishq.”
Special film
Priyanka had sneaked into
Mumbai recently, for a very special preview of Krrish attended by a select
audience. “And they all loved the film. Javed saab and Shabanaji and Karan
Johar had such lovely things to say. I’m very proud to be in Krrish. While
working in it, I knew it was special. I didn’t know how special until I
saw the film.”
As for Don, “We’re having
so much fun. Farhan has shot some of the coolest action scenes ever filmed.
In fact, both Krrish and Don have amazing action.”
