Diwan-I-Khas
The royal enclosure lies behind the Diwan-I-Aam. At the northern corner stands a small but grand single-storey structure of Diwan-I-Khas with the most magnificently sculptured and most photographed stone column at the center of the hall. It bursts forth into a set of 36 closely set vaulted and pendulous brackets supporting a circular platform from which radiate four passages. Is it really the famous Ibadat-Khana where Akbar initiated religious discourses amongst diverse religious groups-Hindu, Muslim, Jain, and Jesuit etc.

Promising to transport the tourists to her land to an age of glory and culture, the entirety of the city of Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh in India is an example of the brilliance and the charisma of the great Mughals. Resplendent in the elegance which naturally comes to this ancient city, thanks to her rich association with the regality of the Mughals, Tours To Fatehpur Sikri are considered to be definite must haves if you are planning a tour itinerary to Uttar Pradesh. Characterized by the rich feel of the red sand stone, which it is constructed of, the prestigious list of the various Monuments Of Fatehpur Sikri is led by, perhaps, the Diwan-I-Khas, Fatehpur Sikri.

Built as a form of homage to the memory of the memory of the great Sufi saint, Sheikh Salim Chisti, who, it is said, blessed the emperor with an heir to the Mughal throne in India, who was to be later known as Jahangir, Fatehpur Sikri was built in 1571 and stood as the capital of the Mughal empire till the year 1585. Once, the bustling capital city of the great Mughals, Fatehpur Sikri was abandoned due to what, today is guessed by historians to be a severe water shortage.

Listed in the prestigious list of World Heritage sites as put down by UNESCO, Fatehpur Sikri is today one of the greatest prides of Indian culture. Arguably, one of the most prestigious monuments in Fatehpur Sikri, the Diwan-I-Khas in Fatehpur Sikri offers an excellent glimpse of the life in the Mughal court in Fatehpur Sikri.

Know as the Diwan-I-Khas or the Hall of Private Audience, a visit to the exotic premises of the Diwan-I-Khas in Fatehpur Sikri is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Fatehpur Sikri. A silent witness to the grandeur of the great Mughals, a tour to the Diwan-I-Khas, Fatehpur Sikri is known for the elaborate carvings, which mark its interiors. Perhaps, the most prominent aspect of the interiors of the Diwan-I-Khas, Fatehpur Sikri is the stone column, which, to a large extent, probably bears some association to the rule of Emperor Akbar. The second most striking feature of the Fatehpur Sikri is the massive Lotus Pillar throne, which was probably the throne, where the emperor sat while holding court.

Fatehpur Sikri Video - Construction of the new capital Fatehpur Sikri began in earnest in 1571 and continued for about fifteen years. During much of this time Akbar ade the area his home, but strangely, in 1586, Akbar abandoned his new capital forever. The reasons are not entirely clear, but the most plausible explanation is that Akbar needed to move his base of operations to wage the war against Kabul, which he occupied in 1585, and Kandahar, which fell in 1595
