Anil Ambani in fray for
3 Film City studios
Sunday, June 25, 2006 MUMBAI: Anil Ambani's Adlabs and Sahara are among the companies bidding for redevelopment of studio space in Film City, Goregaon. Nine companies are said to be in the pre-qualification fray for three incomplete studios in the state-run establishment that is going in for an expansion programme. "Film City has 19 studios. Three of them are incomplete. We want to develop them on a build-operate-and-transfer basis. The pre-qualifying bids have been called for and nine firms, including Reliance Adlabs, Sahara, Akruti and Chopra have applied. The financial bids will be called next month," Film City managing director Bhushan Gagrani told TOI on Saturday. Gagrani said less than 40% of the work had been completed in the three studios. A few years ago, the state government had granted Rs 30 crore for Film City's expansion but the money was diverted for other purposes. Insiders say, Ambani, who has a keen interest in the film industry, wants to build a studio bigger and better than the Rs 120 crore Yashraj Films studio |
