Moti Masjid Red Fort Delhi
Muslims make use of Aurangzeb's private and tiny Moti Masjid. Although perhaps a more devout Muslim than his predecessors. Shah Jahan made no provision for a mosque inside the Red Fort walls and was content to use the great congregational Jama Masjid in the city centre. Indeed, although it was not begun until 1650, the Jama Masjid was vital to the original concept that the Fort and city should interrelate.

after Shah Jahan was deposed and imprisoned in Agra Fort, Aurangzeb won the wars of succession and spent the first few years of his long reign at his father's new Red Fort. A pious man, his one addition was the Moti Masjid, a tiny mosque lined in marble. Surrounding this window overlooking the gardens, every inch of wall is carved with towers, arcades, cartouches and splendid piasters of chevron pattern which reach up to the minarets.
