Deepika Padukone?
Do you know Deepika Padukone
was not born in India? And do you know which is her all-time favourite

It may sound ironical
but as a child Deepika never wanted to be an actress. She says even the
thought of joining the film industry did not cross her mind. And today,
she is the most-talked-about debutante of year 2007, making her Bollywood
debut with Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om.
On the eve of the film’s
worldwide release, here are a few interesting facts about Deepika.
Deepika was born in Copenhagen
(Denmark) in 1986 to badminton legend Prakash Padukone. Her family moved
to Bangalore when she was just 11 months old. Deepika's mother Ujjala is
a travel agent.
Following her dad’s footsteps,
Deepika too played badminton regularly till her tenth standard. Deepika
did her schooling from Sophia High School and graduation from Mount Carmel
College.
By the time she was doing
her graduation, modeling offers began coming Deepika’s way. In her modeling
career Deepika appeared in several print and television ads.
Deepika learned acting
under Anupam Kher and dance under Shiamak Davar.
Her first film was a
Kannada flick titled ‘Aishwarya’. When Bollywood director Farah Khan first
approached Deepika, it was for a movie titled ‘Happy New Year’. However,
that project was scrapped and Deepika was signed for ‘Om Shanti Om’.
On the personal front,
Deepika has been linked with model Nihar Pandya, actor Ranbir Kapoor, and
cricketers Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh.
