The last time Akshay and Priyanka worked opposite each other was in Vipul Shah’s Waqt (2005). After the release of Waqt, there were reports that Akshay’s wife Twinkle had forbidden him from signing any films with Priyanka and that explains the two year gap for this hit jodi. Several producers including Sajid Nadiadwala who were keen to cast them together but it didn’t work out.

However, things seem to have changed now since Akshay is the one who’s showing interest in their pairing. When contacted Parag Desai, media consultant Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision says, “We are not aware about any such thing at the moment.” 

There’s a buzz that Akshay Kumar has been asking producers to rope in Priyanka as a leading lady opposite him. The source adds, “Akshay wanted someone who’s athletic and can do action scenes well for Blue and Priyanka has proved that she can do that. If everything works out well, the pairing will be Sanju-Lara and Akshay-Priyanka.
