Priyanka Chopra's father Dr. Ashok Chopra gets bail

Indore, Sep 21 : A local court today released Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's father Ashok Chopra on a bail of Rs one lakh in connection with a case lodged by her former private secretary Prakash Jaju.

Mr Chopra appeared before Judicial Magistrate V S Mubel, who fixed September 26 as the next date for hearing. 

Mr Chopra's counsel Chandrashekhar Raikwar was present in the court. 

Meanwhile, Priyanka and her father approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court's Indore bench seeking stay in the case. The High Court's Indore Bench had acquitted Priyanka from the charges recently. 

However, a case against her father was continuing in a lower court.

Meanwhile, Priyanka had filed a case against Jaju in Mumbai.

New Delhi: Actress Priyanka Chopra on Monday filed a caveat in the Supreme Court to not grant relief to her former personal assistant Prakash Jaju without hearing her. now The Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court had acquitted her of the charge of having Jaju threatened by don Chhota Shakeel, because its false alligation.

Jaju had filed a criminal complaint against Priyanka and her father Ashok Chopra for issuing criminal threats to him in the Indore Court. now Priyanka's Lawyer is Mr. Sachin Chopra from Delhi.
 

Ashok Chopra, could not appear in a lower court hearing the case as he was suffering from cancer, prompting it to issue a non-bailable warrant, which is still effective. The Judicial Magistrate has issued a non-bailable warrant against Priyanka's father for September 17.
 

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has given a clean chit to the actress but dismissed the criminal revision petition filed by her father seeking to quash criminal proceedings pending against him at Indore.
Jaju is likely to challenge the High Court's decision giving clean chit to the actress.
Jaju had filed a complaint alleging that Priyanka and her father Ashok Chopra had not paid his dues and when he asked for payment, they intimidated him with dire consequences, in case he persisted with his demand for money.
The dues, according to Jaju, run in a few lakhs of rupees. A court is not supposed to grant any ex party relief to the petitioner without prior notice to the caveator
