Salman in
'trouble' again?
Mumbai, Nov 12: A case of negligent driving has been registered against a Canadian model, driving Salman Khan’s car, for running into a bike here. A policeman, who was riding the bike suffered a broken limb and was admitted to the nearby Nair Hospital. The car was registered in actor Salman Khan’s name, and according to an eyewitness it was the star, who was at the wheels, when the accident occurred. The actor’s lawyer, Deepesh Mehta, however reacted strongly against the allegations, rubbishing them as baseless. He said that at the time of the accident, Salman was at his Galaxy Apartment home. He also threatened a legal action against sections of media who published ‘lies’, without checking the facts. The police corroborated this assertion late of Monday. Clark was driving a Maruti Swift car in the wee hours yesterday along with a companion when the car hit a motorcycle injuring two persons, including a police constable, at the Worli Naka in central Mumbai, police said. Salman, who was handed a five-year jail term for killing a chinkara deer at a farm near Jodhpur in 1998 while shooting for Sooraj Barjatya`s "Hum Saath Saath Hain", last year, has had two stints in jail. Besides there is also a case for negligent driving pending against him in a Sessions Court. The actor is accused of mowing down a pavement dweller to death while driving under the influence of alcohol on the night of 27th September, 2002. The Bollywood heartthrob,
who is one of the country’s most loved actor, is currently out on bail
in both the cases.
According to the police, the Maruti Swift driven by Clarke belonged to her friend Ramani’s mother. Clarke was released on bail shortly after the accident. “We are waiting for the
medical certificates of the two men on the motorcycle as the rider might
have consumed alcohol,” said Warlikar.
