We will deal
with human poaching cases first : Judge to Salman Khan
24 October 2007 (Sawf News) - Salman Khan got a reprieve from the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur Wednesday, October 24, in the chinkara poaching case ironically because the country abounds in bad boys who are a lot more shadier. Let us deal with human poaching cases first the court appears to be saying. Jodhpur: Actor Salman Khan today appeared before the registry of the Rajasthan High Court here in connection with the Chinkara poaching case. He also marked his presence before a lower court of the city hearing another case of hunting a black buck and a case under Arms Act against him. It could be years before Sallu has to set foot in the Jodhpur court again. After appearing in court yesterday, his case was referred to judicial backlog, and will be taken up in "due course." His lawyer told the Times of India this could take five to seven years. Salman's appearance Wednesday was a formality. His lawyer, H M Saraswat, said that once the high court grants bail, the accused - Salman - had "to be presented and identified by his lawyer in front of judicial officer, so I identified him before the deputy registrar." Unless you're new to this story, or just emerged from a dark cave in the jungles after ten years, or stumbled upon this page by accident, you already know that the case against Salman arose from the poaching of the protected chinkara gazelle, a black buck, outside Jodhpur in September 1998. There have been whispers that Salman himself didn't pull the trigger and is protecting someone else, but none of those rumors have been substantiated. Meanwhile, people in the Bishnoi village who protect the animals say the case against Salman has cut down on poaching. Salman was released from Jodhpur jail after furnishing a personal bond of Rs 1,00,000 with two sureties of Rs 50,000 each. The case pertains to the poaching of a Chinkara at Ujiyala Bhakhar near Ghoda Farm on September 28,1998. Chinkara is a protected animal under the Wild Life Protection Act. Two more cases against the actor are pending before the lower court
