Delhi is famous for its large markets and its cheap but good merchandise. It has several sprawling markets and shopping center. Kamla Nagar is one of the most popular areas to shop in. It is also very close to the University of Delhi. Therefore, it is the hang out of college students during the break. Due to the proximity to the University, there are many college students living very close in either hostels or rented accommodation. The Kamala Nagar market provides them with the necessary restaurants and shops for their daily needs. This market is also renowned for its popular brands of fashion apparel and designer clothes. One can see large numbers of students wandering among the different stalls selecting clothes and cosmetics. The MacDonald's and Domino outlets attract the students who hang out here with their friends. It now houses a mix of
international brands and Indian stores on the famous Bungalow Road just
opposite well known Hans Raj College. With the time it has turned into
a huge market where all brands are available either Indian or International.
It is a very good place to hang around with friends and family. All the
famous food outlets are avialable like Gaini's, Mc-Downells, CCDs, Omellete,
and so on. The retail stores & restaurants are located on lower floors
of the market while the upper stories have retained their residential character.
It is majorly known for stores of traditional Indian dresses.
Another famous eatery is Gopal Sweets Shop on the road between Roop Nagar and Kamla Nagar just before Shakti Nagar red light. Their Bedmi Puri, Samosa, Jalebi, Kachori are out of this world. And if you are looking for some South Indian street food, try Shiva just opposite Gopal Sweets in the lane. The MCD is now removing the roundabouts and constructing the huge underground parking in centre of the market to improve tariff conditions.
