Priyanka Chopra Doll
If you can’t get close enough to drool over your favourite Bollywood heartthrob in the flesh, you might want to consider plastic replicas! For a price, you can take filmstars Kajol, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan home, courtesy an Indian toymaker. But here’s the rub. Though manufacturing the glitzy dolls might have taken the makers all of four years of intensive research and detailing - the final products leave a lot to be desired, and are a far cry from the stars that they are modelled after.
I was a little skeptical, a little nervous, I wasn’t sure whether it would work or not, I wasn’t sure what the doll would eventually look like – would it be a caricature of me, or would it look like what I thought I looked like?” was Kajol’s take on her look-alike doll.

But having voiced her concerns, the actor said she’d rather buy her daughter this doll than any other.
Mind, owning your own miniature Bollywood heartthrob could be heavy on the pocket. Factoring in royalty for the larger-than-life legends, the dolls will sell for Rs 999 a piece – surely, that’s a lot of money for a doll? But makers have their market in place. They want to target not just the unsuspecting Indian buyer, but also Bollywood fans in the UK, the Middle East, Indonesia and South Africa.

“The way we work in the toy industry – and there are different systems – is that we have a licensing contract with each of the actors and global rights to produce dolls in their likeness with them,” says head of ‘Bollywood Legends’ Shameen Jivraj.

Well, well...thinking of shelling out a thousand bucks for these dolls? You’ll certainly have to love your stars a lot. But then again, maybe you're not alone after all. For the star-struck, this miniature magic surely comes very close to a dream come true.
