Treatment for Taj
Agra, Feb 13 (PTI) One
of the seven wonders of the world, Taj Mahal, is set for a new look with
the Archaeological Survey of India starting a mudpack treatment for the
first time on the monument of love.
The mudpack treatment,
which began yesterday, would clean up the dust particles that have accumulated
over the 17th century monument.
Mudpack is a sort of beauty
treatment prescribed in Ayurveda tracts. Mudpack, a type of mud found in
several parts of north India, will be pastured over the monument. As the
mud starts dying, the paste would automatically fall.
The paste was applied
on the western arch of the main mausoleum yesterday, official sources said.
It will be applied on all the four arches.
Experts feel that the
treatment will restore the original look of the world heritage site.
According to the L K Samdhia,
who is over seeing the treatment, the surface would be cleaned with a soft
brush dipped in distilled water after the falling of the mudpack.
About 15 people are engaged
in this exercise that would continue for a month..
