Amitabh Bachchan in London
August 25, 2008, The tour conducted by the most popular family of Bollywood, the Bachchan family, is enjoying a lot of success these days as their concerts across the world are being well received by their die heart fans. Amitabh Bachchan became emotional while delivering dialogues from Deewar — in which he plays an agnostic who goes to the temple for the first time asking God to save the life of his mother — and said: “Whenever I do the scene I get emotional about my mother whom I lost last year.” Besides the three-hour long bonanza of Bollywood songs and dance sequences, performed on Sunday night, Bachchan read out some of the poems from Agnipath (Path of Fire), penned by his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan. The show also had star attractions like Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Ritesh Deshmukh, Shilpa Shetty and music directors Vishal and Shekhar, assisted by a cast of 130 stage artists, who kept the crowd spell bound with their scintillating performances. The show partners with TERI
project to light a billion homes across the globe.
The tour promoted by Indian company Wizcraft will see its final show in Rotterdam in Netherlands on August 29th. However, the concert shows which otherwise have received a lot of success and also earned hell lot of money, has not been able to attract the mainstream western audience. The major reason being the expensive ticket of the show. Amitabh Bachchan has performed on stage after long 20 years through this tour. The tour has arrived to UK and is going to perform in London on 24th August. Initially the star cast which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priety Zinta and Ritesh Deshmukh, had performed in major cities like USA, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago. But the heavy amount of ticket will definitely affect the number of audiences flowing in for the show. A well known newspaper of London has reported, “Part of the problem could be financial. Promoters have been charging as much as £250 for a ticket, and with credit crunch sliding towards recession on both sides of the Atlantic, it’s not surprising only the most die-hard fans are prepared to fork out.” The show in Vancouver had to be cancelled due to fewer sales of the tickets. However, all this has not brought any digression in the spirits of the actors. They seem to be enjoying their time performing in front of their admirers. As Aishwarya Rai Bacchan explains, “Doing it with the love of my life. Wonderful to have pa, my father in law and my mother in law with us. It's a real honor.” Ritesh can’t stop admiring the performance of Big-B on the stage. Miss bubbly Zinta is also overwhelmed with the kind of hospitality she is receiving form the Bachchan’s in the show. Over and all, this tour can be called the one of its kinds and a major success. |
