Mumbai, Sept 29: Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday arrested a youth (an Abhishek Bachchan impersonator) for sending threatening SMSs to Amitabh Bachchan. 

Devi Singh Rajpurohit, 25, was arrested from Rajasthan as he was threatening Big B by his messages and demanding a sum of Rs 25 crores as well as a role in a Bollywood movie. 

According to reports, Rajpurohit, in his SMS to Bachchan, had exclaimed that Big B had only three days to live if he failed to pay him the money in question. 

Rajpurohit has apparently told the police that he had done some scenes as a body double for Abhishek in his much anticipated film 'Drona'. It is believed that Devi was desperate to get a role in a Bollywood production and had thought that Bachchan would be of some help, but when there was no rejoinder, he decided to threaten Bachchan through SMSs. 

Rajpurohit has told the police that he had shot for some scenes of the soon-to-be released movie 'Drona' as a duplicate for Abhishek Bachchan. 

According to Rajpurohit, many of his villagers had told him that he resembled Abhishek and that he should start acting in movies, Maria said. 

Rajpurohit had earlier sent SMSs to the senior Bachchan when Abhishek tied the knot with actress Aishwarya Rai and when Bachchan's mother Teji Bachchan died. 

Rajpurohit in his messages had demanded Amitabh Bachchan to grant him a role in Bollywood movies but when there was no response, he sent the threatening message. 

Rajpurohit used to send the messages, including the threatening one, from his mobile number through which he was tracked and arrested, Maria said. 

The accused will be produced before a court on Tuesday.
