Complaint
Moved Against Salman Khan
Salman Khan is no stranger to trouble with the police. Days after Ajay Devgan was indicted for smoking in public, it is now Salman who has been booked with the same offense. Apparently, the star was caught smoking in public and an NGO based in Chandigarh called The Burning Brain Society filed a complaint against him to GRP (incharge), Railway Ropad. They want the police to take action against him as he failed to abide by the provisions of Section 4 of "The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003" and Section 278, 290 of the Indian Penal Code. Speaking to NDTV.com, Hemant Goswami, Chairperson of Burning Brain Society said, "First we filed a complaing agaisnt Ajay Devegan when we saw photographs of him smoking at the Chandigarh airport in the newspaper. In the same complaint we asked for action against some police officers, Para-Military staff, private security staff, airline and airport authority staff, fellow actors and member of the film crew including Salman Khan for not informing the police of this voilation by Ajay Devegan to the nearest magistrate or the police officer. Now we have come to know that with Ajay Devegan, Salman Khan too smoked in Public at Kurali Railway Station. So we have sent another complaint to the GRP (Incharge) of the Kurali Railway Station against Salman as well as Ajay Devegan." Gosami added, "According to section 278 of IPC any act which makes atmosphere noxious to health is a punishable offence. Not just that, there is a clear provision in the section 4 of the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products Act 2003 (COTPA) which says that no person shall smoke in any public place. We have come to know from sources that both Salman and Ajay smoked in full public view." According to section Section 278 of IPC, whoever voluntarily vitiates the atmosphere in any place so as to make it noxious to the health of persons in general dwelling or carrying on business in the neighbourhood or passing along a public way, shall be punished with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees. ![]() Complaint Moved Against Salman Khan
