What these
terrorists want to achieve : Salman khan
Mumbai's carnage has impacted people in unprecedented ways. While there has been a nationwide anger and outcry against the brutal attacks, the who's who of Bollywood, in a rare act of solidarity, has made it a point to come out in the open to condemn the dastardly terrorist acts. After Big B, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, it is the usually reticent Salman Khan who has broken his silence with strong words - outspokenness quite rare to him. The 'tough guy' of Bollywood feels that the industry has always been one of the most vulnerable targets for the terrorists. Salman is completely appalled by the mindless killing of innocent people and feels that Bollywood, being in Mumbai has always been a soft target for terror attacks. "We are the 'softest' target for terror attacks. Hundreds of people who work in Mumbai are dependent on the film industry for their livelihoods. They work extremely hard through the days and nights to earn a well-deserved living. Each one is dependant on another. Terror attacks hit us very badly. The industry suffers a lot." Shocked by the futility of such deaths, the actor adds, " I don't know what these terrorists want to achieve by killing innocent people. They don't have any religion. What some handful of trigger-happy people did in Mumbai is against the teachings of Quran." Condemning the terrorists, the actor says that those who engage in such terrorist activities are given wrong taalim since their childhood. "All those involved in Mumbai carnage were young men. They had been given wrong education since the age of four or five. What could they do? They got into this terrible terror game because they were shown the wrong path since their childhood." Being a proud Muslim, Salman emphasizes that no Muslim will get into this kind of thing. "Every Muslim is working to earn whatever he could and he is happy with that." Salman, who was recently seen in Yuvvraaj, also feels that if everyone will work with true sense of duty and dedication such things can be avoided. Says he, "We need to be very alert. Every one needs to contribute and work in a very responsible manner. Strict vigil, regular checks and security alert can help stop terror activities." Showing his support to the anti-terror cause, Salman adds, "It needs a lot of courage to come on the street and speak against terrorism. We are united in this fight against terrorism. We are one. I am with all those people who have taken a pledge to continue their fight against terrorism." In an interview aired on CNN-IBN on Tuesday, December 8, Salman Khan slammed terrorists but defended Pakistan saying it too was a victim of terrorism. Salman said Islam does not advocate terrorism and it was up to the people to choose between the ideology of the terrorist preachers and handlers or follow the Quran. "Pakistan itself is in the grip of terrorism - Benazir Bhutto was killed, multiple attempts were made to assassinate President Pervez Musharraf's life, the Marriott hotel was blown up. "Pakistan has no control over terrorism. "I don't read Pakistani news papers but when such incidents occur there, do they blame India for it?" The maverick star also said: "As long as the terrorists
were striking at ordinary people traveling in trains and buses everyone
was going about their normal regular lives. Now that the elite don't feel
safe anywhere they will take a stand and the government will listen to
them. It is a good thing. However, it would have been so much better if
matters had not come to a head like this."
