At Shabana Azmi’s birthday party on Saturday, two unlikely figures of Bollywood were seen bonding like lost buddies - Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha. 

We all know that the friendship between the two stars got strained two years ago when Sinha had taken a snipe at the Bachchan family by saying that certain award functions (IIFA in that case) had become too much in favour of the Bachchans. Big B too hadn’t taken the remark lightly and replied with a tit for Shotgun’s tat. 

But at Shabana Azmi’s birthday party where a lot of other film celebrities were present, the two spent the entire evening together, talking non-stop about almost anything on earth. 

While Shotgun complimented Big B about his National Award win for Paa, the latter congratulated Shatrughan for his daughter’s Sonakshi Sinha’s successful entry into Bollywood with Dabangg. 

Actress Shabana Azmi brought in her 60th birthday on the night of 17 September, after the premier of her play Seven, the documentary play which was based on interviews with seven real life women. In the play, Azmi played the character which was played by actress Meryl Streep when it was staged in US

It was Saturday night fever with the Bollywood brigade trooping in at regular intervals, all sporting fabulous or funky headgear - for that was the specified theme for this rocking party. Shabana's gal pals, Parna (best friend for decades), Shahana Goswami and her sister-in-law Tanvi orchestrated the whole affair that turned out to be a night to remember. Meeting and greeting each and every guest, shaking a leg on the dance floor and flouting her hot pink headgear was the birthday girl, who looked sweet 16. 

Hubby Javed Akhtar pepped up the proceedings while son Farhan Akhtar mingled with the many guests. It was a full-throttle Bollywood buzz with the presence of the Bachchans, the enigmatic Rekha, Dia Mirza, Amrita Rao, Vinod Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Farah Khan, David Dhawan, Yash Chopra, Rakesh Roshan, Tabu, Zeenat Aman, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Naseeruddin with wife Ratna Pathak Shah, Rhea Kapoor... whew! 

And the grand guest list continues with Adi and Parmeshwar Godrej, Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Ashok Gundecha with daughters Neha and Minal, Alyque Padamsee and daughter Shazahn, Ritu Kumar, Anita Dongre who demonstrated that she can dance with joy and Rashmi Uday Singh who sported a cowboy hat. Everyone enjoyed the cool cocktails and the hot pan Asian spread.
