Delhi safe for Games: Delhi police chief The Delhi police is well prepared for the coming 2010 Commonwealth Games and all necessary security arrangements have been made, Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal said here Friday. “I will categorically state that the Delhi Police is totally prepared for the Commonwealth Games and all necessary arrangements have been made. There is nothing which is left, which has to be addressed,” said Dadwal. “We will continue our arrangements, this was also a good exposure to our staff, to the additional protocols, which have been added for the security of the Commonwealth Games. I am very confident, we will carry forward security of the Commonwealth Games without any hitch,” he added. Dadwal further urged the media persons to get their facts correct ahead of writing on issues linked to security. “It is moving in the right direction. I have a request all the media persons to confirm with the Delhi Police before writing stories on security issue,” said Dadwal. “The news from here goes out to the world press and foreign countries and they get apprehensive about the arrangements here,” he added. The US advisory issued on Wednesday spoke of ‘increased indication that terrorists’ are planning to attack some of New Delhi’s markets frequented by foreigners. The issue is being looked into with some seriousness following Saturday’s Bangalore blast in which at least 12 people were wounded prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers of Bangalore. 'Our ongoing security survey, checks and upgradation are well on track. We have a regular anti-sabotage search. Our security personnel are always alert and vigilant,' he told reporters here. 'We are planning a safe and secure Commonwealth Games,' Dadwal added. When asked about security
advisories issued by the US and Australian embassies here to their citizens
to be cautious about visiting popular markets, the police chief refused
to comment.
