Doctor: 'I
didn't kill Michael Jackson'
July 19 2009. The doctor who was with Michael Jackson shortly before his death has claimed that he is being turned into a "scapegoat" in the media. Conrad Murray, who was first questioned by police last month, has been at the centre of press speculation in recent weeks amid rumours that a drug overdose sparked Jackson's fatal heart attack. However, speaking to The People, Murray insisted: "I did not give Michael anything that should have led to his death. I do not know anything more than anyone else about what killed Michael - but it wasn't me." The 55-year-old added that he does not believe he is a suspect in the police investigation, which is said to be focusing on the possibility of a homicide. He commented: "It's human nature to try and find a scapegoat but if I was the focus of a criminal probe I would have been told by now. I have been told nothing even though I have been co-operating with the police since day one." A spokeswoman for Murray's lawyer added: "We have a lot of faith in our client. Since Michael's death there have been unsubstantiated reports everywhere. There has been one report that Dr Murray is the focus of a criminal probe - but nothing has happened."
