a popular tourist destination and is bound to receive tourist in large
numbers during this event. The district authorities of Agra have therefore
planned to start special sightseeing tour buses to take tourist around

Apart from the world famous
monument of Taj Mahal, the administrative authorities wish to promote tourism

Shahjahan who built the white marble monuments in memory of his wife Mumtaz
Mahal. Agra Fort, another important historical monument is also a World
Heritage Site built by Mughal Emperor Akbar. The fort has a number of palaces
and mosques inside its walls.
Fatehpur Sikri is an abandoned
town today; built by Mughal Emperor Akbar who had shifted his capital here
from Agra, but later again shifted his capital to Agra Fort. This town
is a World Heritage Site and has many buildings of tombs, mosques which
are of great historical significance.
While taking tourist on
a sightseeing tour, strict rules will be maintained on spitting and littering
near any of the historical or ornamental tourist spots in the city. Anyone
caught doing so will be strictly fined and booked.
In order to promote this
new bus sightseeing service among tourist, the district administration
has put up huge hoardings near the Taj Ganj area around the Taj Mahal.
