Kapil Sibal
launches his
website
Just ahead of
fighting it
out at the hustings, the BJP and Congress candidates are competing to
go
online to woo more voters in the national capital.
A day after
his opponent
and BJP candidate from Chandni Chowk Vijender Gupta launched his
website,
Kapil Sibal clicked the mouse on Saturday by launching his portal and
claimed
that his was more dynamic and user friendly.
The website
www.kapilsibal.net
details Mr. Sibal's profile, achievements and a comprehensive
collection
of his statements on national issues and those related to his
constituency.
Shri Kapil
Sibal belongs
to an illustrious family from Punjab. His father, Shri H.L.
Sibal,
a renowned advocate, was rendered homeless, along with his entire
family
during partition and started his life afresh. In 1994, he was
christened
"Living Legend of the Law" by the International Bar Association. In
2006,
the Government of India honoured him with the third highest civilian
award
Padma Bhushan for his distinguished services in the field of Public
Affairs.
Shri Kapil Sibals two sons, Amit and Akhil, having both studied at
Cambridge
University, received degrees from the prestigious Harvard and Stanford
Universities respectively. Both of them are now practicing law in india.

Shri Kapil Sibal has
been a
member of Parliament for over 10 years, first in 1998, as Member of
rajya
Sabha and in 2004, elected to the Lok Sabha from the Chandni
Chowk
Parliamentary Constituency.
Shri Kapil Sibal,
a household
name in the entire country, moved to Delhi in 1964, He graduated from
St.
Stephens College and went on to do his Masters from the prestigious
Harward
Law school, USA. He qualified for the IAS(1973) but choose to become a
lawyer. He soon rose to become one of the top practitioners of the
country,
and in 1989, he was appointed the Additional Solicitor General of India
. In 1994, He achieved the rare distinction of successfully defending a
Supreme Court Judge in the impeachment proceedings in Parliament.
He has been
perhaps the most
articulate Spokesperson of the Congress Party. He was the official
Spokesperson
of the Party for the 1999 and 2004 Lok Sabha elections. He articulated
the partys position throughout the course of the negotiations on the
Indo-US
Nuclear Deal. He is regarded as one of the most successful Ministers in
this Government. For him, science & technology provides the
foundation
for the modern resurgent India. Under him, the Ministry has acquired a
new profile, a relevance never seen before. He has a passion for using
science & technology as a vehicle to change the life of the common
man.
|
He
combines the rare gift
of a thinker and a doer. His public postures are always on the side of
justice. He is one of those who never shied away from taking on Shri
L.K.
Advani or Shri Narender Modi and has always espoused the cause of
secularism.
His public position against the fascist and divisive forces of India
and
his speeches in the Parliament , both reflect not only his commitment
to
secularism but also his courage in speaking out against elements who
seek
to destroy Indias national and cultural heritage. He dreams of, and
works
towards, a Modern India which continues to be rooted in its cultural
heritage.
However, his human
qualities override all his other achievements. His generosity, empathy,
desire to serve people and above all, willingness to fight injustice,
make
him part of a rare breed of politicians since independent India.
It
is seldom that
people get a chance to associate and elect a representative with such
multiple
qualities and qualifications. The constituency of Chandni Chowk will
continue
to be enriched under his leadership, just as he will be enriched by
being
its representative.
