Led by Salman Khan and Shoaib Akhtar respectively, the teams slugged it out in a 15-over match, with Salman’s team winning the game. Bro Arbaaz Khan kept tweeting regular updates throughout the match. From Bollywood, there were celebs like Suniel Shetty, Riteish, Chunky Pandey, David Dhawan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sajid-Wajid, Ashish Chowdhury, Aftab Shivdasani, Sanjay Kapoor and Vatsal Seth, besides Arbaaz and Sohail. To say Salman Khan was a crowd favourite would be an understatement. Women – stretching to get a glimpse of the star – had to be escorted down from the first and second floors, for fear they would fall off from the railings.

One fan even considered divorcing her husband of eight years to be with the star. “I love Salman Khan… I was probably one of the first to buy the tickets for the game. I just need to meet him once to convince him that I am the one he needs to get married too,” Riah John, a 32-year-old homemaker and Dubai resident, said.

Forty celebrities, from Indian and Pakistan, including renowned cricket personality Shoaib Akhtar, had flown in to be part of the Celebrity Cup 2010 on Thursday and a fashion show held last night - a two–day event which organisers claim took over two years to materialise.

Khan had admitted during a press conference earlier on Thursday that the Indian team might face issues – on returning home – for agreeing to play against political rivals, Pakistan.

The most glamorous cricket match ever — the Salman Khan “Celebrity Cricket Cup” will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai Sports City on May 27.

The gates for the match, organised by Cynosure, an event management and sports marketing company based in the UAE, will open at 7pm.

Cricket and especially Twenty20 has taken the cricketing world by storm and has become a permanent part of both the domestic and international cricket calendars.

In the year 2007, Cynosure organised a one off cricket match between celebrities from India and Pakistan to promote Diabetic Education & Awareness at Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium and branded that event as ‘DEA Cup’.

Due to the massive success of the DEA CUP, the Bollywood fans and Lollywood fans will face off in yet another thrilling match. The match will include biggest names in Indian and Pakistani celebrities which is set to be an annual occurrence.

Hosted by none other than the Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, one of the few celebrities with a unique universal appeal to the young and old across the world, the Celebrity Cricket Match, boasts more than 41 celebrities and is expected to attract over 20,000 fans.
