Ashutosh Gowariker humiliating Priyanka Chopra

Mumbai, June 19: The latest from the B-town grapevine is that Ashutosh Gowariker is trying to make peace with Priyanka Chopra for his nasty comments at the recent concluded IIFA awards

When Ashutosh Gowariker was called on stage to collect the best director award for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, he pompously said, “Priyanka I Love You, but I don`t know how you got the award for Best Actress when Aishwarya was also nominated in the same category for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’”. Priyanka bore the insult silently but Bhandarkar was livid at the remark. 

Madhur Bhandarkar made his displeasure clear by saying, “I’m shocked by what Ashutosh had to say. We’re friends and I admire his work. More than us, our wives are very close friends. If he felt this way he should’ve shared it with me and Priyanka, not spoilt the golden moment for her on stage. Priyanka got every popular award. Doesn’t that prove she deserves it?”

after humiliating the ‘Jalwa’ girl, he is now all set to pamper her with 12 songs in ‘What’s your Rashee’, his upcoming directorial project with Priyanka in the lead.

According to a source, “Priyanka and Ashu are very fond of each other and there is no tension between them. Ashutosh is not doing anything out of the way. It's a plan that they always had.”

All Priyanka had to say was that as there were 12 characters depicting the zodiac signs so the 12 songs had to be there depicting each of the character.

Ashutosh has till now given lengthy films to his audience and so is not concerned if the running time of a movie increases. What's important is that the message should be conveyed.

The movie that also stars Harman Baweja opposite Priyanka has 13 songs in all and let’s hope they are appealing enough for the audience.

Priyanka surely has benefited for her silence and mature behavior even after Ashutosh questioned her getting the best actor award for ‘Fashion’ instead of Aishwarya Rai for ‘Jodha Akbar’.

Priyanka Chopra is a pretty hot lady. But she's not merely a pretty face, she's a talented actress too. A lot of people would say that she was deserving of the Best Actress Award in the movie 'Fashion'. But director Ashutosh Gowariker had something else to say about her acting skills, making Priyanka extremely uncomfortable.

 During his speech at the IIFA he said, "Priyanka I love you, but I don't know how you got the award for Best Actress when Aishwarya was also nominated in the same category for 'Jodhaa Akbar'."

His attempt to cover up this faux pas didn't help, "Maybe it is because you are very hard-working and she is a natural...Jayaji was just asking me the same thing." Sufficed to say, Priyanka Chopra was astonished  that Ashutosh Gowariker would say such a thing. She avoided him at an IIFA after party by saying "I don't want to go there and see his face." Someone at the event said Priyanka is furious that Ashutosh went on a public platform and questioned her Best Actress award for Fashion." It was tacky gesture of Ashutosh Gowariker to share his opinion so openly at the awards ceremony. We understand why Priyanka Chopra was so mad. We want to know what our readers think. And yes, ladies and gents, the plural is intentional: Ashutosh Gowariker apparently managed to wedge two feet in his mouth at this year's International Indian Film Academy Awards in Macau, China.

Foot One was inserted when he ingloriously slammed actress Priyanka Chopra with this unfortunate accolade cum insult:  "Priyanka I love you, but I don't know how you got the award for Best Actress when Aishwarya was also nominated in the same category for 'Jodhaa Akbar'."

While I was tempted to give him the benefit of the doubt for a sarcastic joke gone awry, he promptly inserted Foot Two during his attempt to recover from this gaffe, wondering aloud if Priyanka's hard work, rather than lack of natural talent, was reason for this award. Directly from the horse's (rather wide) mouth:  "Maybe it is because you are very hard-working and she is a natural..."

I wonder:  Too many feet for one mouth . . .or is his mouth too big for one foot?

Turns out this isn't the first time that Gowariker has opened his mouth widely at an awards ceremony. In January 2009 he verbally sparred with Sajid and Farah Khan over their comments about Harman Baweja. While his intentions in this case may have been just, it is clear that Gowariker doesn't keep silent about anything that is on his mind.

Feet or no feet, that's one wide open mouth.

Interestingly, Priyanka and Gowariker are currently working together on the upcoming film "What's your Rashee?"  I am confident that the film producers will save LOADS on air conditioning costs as the set will be naturally chilled. Although I hope that Priyanka's rising fame will soon soothe the embarrassment of this Gowariker's gaffe, if not, there's always next year's IIFA for payback.
