The Festival of Dances
is a unique celebration of the best of Indian classical dance, in a spectacular
floodlit temple setting in Khajuraho, Central India.
Dates for Khajuraho Dance
Festival has been changed. New dates are 01/Feb/2010 to 07/Feb/2010. Decision
has been taken in a meeting under Chief Minister of State. Since last few
years, it has been felt that at the end of February, tourist arrivals falls
down in comparison of January end. Considering the fact, Dance Festival
dates has been rescheduled. Up to last year, it was organized in last week
of February to first week of March.
On 15/Jan/2010, meeting
will take place in Khajuraho to do finalize the plan and start work to
make festival successful. It is a major event in Khajuraho for which tourist
from all over the world visits Khajuraho. In this dance festival, best
artists from all over the world give their performances in Khajuraho at
the backdrop of Khajuraho temple. In the same time, handicraft fair is
also organized to give platform to rural artists to show their art and
culture to rest of the World.
Only here can you see
assembled in one place India's most talented dancers performing different
styles of dance - Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Manipuri and
many more. As well as providing a platform for well established dancers,
the festival, which is organised by the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development
Corporation, also enables talented young dancers to perform to an audience
of dance lovers from all over the world.
The 1000 year old temples
at Khajuraho are famed for their exquisitely carved sculptures and the
movements of the dancers mirror the fluid lines of the statues - an experience
that stays with visitors for ever.
